The segment on Hello Pro! TIME when they went to Disneyland was really funny, but they never released it on DVD. I don’t know if it was too bothersome to mosaic out all the faces or if it was just because of copyright issues but either way, it’s such a waste.

Same here. It would’ve been nice if they’d had more time to be in that position. They forced them higher up the ladder too quickly.

When Takahashi’s graduation was announced, the Niigaki wota were all excitedly waiting for it to happen, going “Gaki-san will finally be the leader!” (nine months, from January to October). But when she finally did become the leader, the time from her inauguration to her graduation (seven months, from October to May) was actually shorter than how long everyone had to wait. It’s a sad, sad story.

They had lost Takahashi, their greatest ace in terms of both ability and popularity. Mitsui was injured and could hardly partake in their activities at all. 9th gen still had much more growing up to do. 10th gen had only just joined the group and were hardly a force to be reckoned with.

When she’d just become the leader, it was basically the threesome of Niigaki-Tanaka-Michishige who could be trusted with keeping the group alive. And at a critical period like that, they went through a crushing failure by releasing a hopeless single by the title of Pyoko Pyoko Ultra.

But gradually, Niigaki along with the 9th and 10th generations, once again created a fun, lively atmosphere in the group. I think that’s a big reason as to why the switch to the Michishige-led lineup was so smooth.

Well, they both had a tough job. Takahashi with three consecutive OG scandals and two foreigners put in the group all of a sudden, and Niigaki with eight elementary and middle school students suddenly joining the group.

Gaki-san did a good job. Of course the 6th gen being there helped some, too, but conversely Gaki having had been there later made it easier for 6th gen, too.

Niigaki supported Takahashi when she was the leader, and Michishige and Tanaka supported Niigaki when she was the leader. Those bonds they have within the group is their strength. It’s one of the great things about Musume.
