You can just sit down and enjoy the concert while taking it easy. There are rarely any annoying wota around you either. Everyone does the glowstick waving and the calls, but while also remembering to mind their manners. It’s the best.

One time I had this elderly couple sitting in front of me at the family seating area. For a while I thought they might’ve been there to see their granddaughter perform or something, but suddenly the grandma got all fired up and pulled out her glowsticks, fans and whatnot. I bet she would’ve wanted to be in front row if only her legs and back could’ve taken it.

If you don’t know how to behave at H!P concerts, it’s best to start with a family seat. You only need to slightly wave around your glowstick.

I don’t wave around a glowstick. I just applaud the group and keep the beat with my foot and stuff. There are lots of people with glowsticks, but there are also other people who don’t even clap — people who won’t move a muscle during the entire concert. There’s lots of variety to be found in the family seats.

The first time I went, I got a general admission seat and couldn’t get into the groove of the concert at all. It was just no good. Ever since then, I’ve always went for a family seat. It’s too bad how so many of the shows these days are held in clubs.

I don’t get the appeal of family seats. It’s difficult to see anything from the second floor. If you’re in general admission and you’re close enough, you don’t even have to look through the monitors to see the members’ faces which makes you get fired up, and if you just want to focus on doing that you can. You don’t have to do the furicopy stuff and whatnot.

But the best seats by far are the ones in the very front row or somewhere close by — you get to see the members’ expressions, even their sweat, with your naked eyes. That’s simply not possible if you’re in the family seats. It’s like a whole other world.

The people who prefer family seats just enjoy taking in the atmosphere of the whole venue. And it’s fun seeing all you guys in general admission making noise. Also, one thing that sucks about general admission is if the person in front of you is really tall. You went to this concert to enjoy yourself, and yet, you have to spend it in agony. You’re going like, “why do I have to attend a concert just for the privilege of getting to stare at the back of this dude’s head?“

For me it’s the other way around. I’m above 190cm and kind of worried about inconveniencing people if I attend a concert in one of the front rows.
Family seats plus binoculars seems like a good idea. Emphasis on “seems”
That guy wanting to see the idols sweat raised a red flag for me though.
I got family seats at a C-ute concert back in 2011, first row balcony at Zepp Yokohama. It was nice and relaxing and, as a bonus, Takahashi Ai and her family were sitting about 10 seats away in front row center.

I’ve been to 2 Morning Musume shows near Tokyo. Best concert experiences ever! Fans were super into it yet were still cool, I could see everything, and no camera phones out!

Ok so I’m confused
I got a ticket to a summer harocon concert and I thought they’d sold out of family seating but I got an assigned spot (like floor 2, row #, spot #)
But I think the machine didn’t really give me a choice in terms of choosing so
Can someone please explain to me how seating works?
I expected to be standing tbh (although I guess sitting is good too especially during the hot summer in Tokyo right now)
At least I don’t have to worry about being crushed by sweaty wota

When I sat in family seating once at Nakano, I thought everyone was gonna stay seated, but then everyone around me got up so I was forced to stand as well if I wanted to see anything
The front half of the balcony where the idols’ family and friends go seems like the only place where everyone stays seated (and doesn’t use glowsticks)
