  1. Densha no futari is so good, love that song as much as those cheerful singles.
Good lineup especially big fan of Konkon and Maki.

  2. Dead-on comment on how banal “Love Machine” can get from time to time but “Souda!” remains a banger!

The “Go Girl!” lineup was the one my coworkers could never, EVER get. “How can you TELL THEM ALL APART?!!”

  3. Sou da! We’re ALIVE is such an amazing song. It needs the vocals, it needs the energy and the personality – can’t leave any aspect of it out. It’s the type of song any other idol group couldn’t pull off.

    • Copy-pasting my explanation from an earlier post:

Hellomageddon was a slew of what were considered terrible announcements made on July 31, 2002: Goto Maki and Yasuda Kei’s graduations from Morning Musume; renewal of the lineups of Tanpopo, Pucchimoni, Minimoni and Country Musume; Heike Michiyo’s graduation from Hello! Project. (Also often considered part of Hellomageddon though not announced at the event: Rinne and Ishii Rika’s graduations from Hello! Project.)

  4. I became a fan in 2001, so this was the era that really hooked me as a fan. The music isn’t as great as the Golden Era, but it’s still great, and hearing it always makes me nostalgic for those pre-YouTube years where you really had to work to be a fan. Broadband internet wasn’t as ubiquitous or as good, so even short, crap-quality video clips took forever to download from IRQ or usenet, but we all grabbed every episode of HaroMoni and Utaban available. Such a great time.

This is when I became a fan as well and I remember feeling grateful even for short clips of Morning Musume.

  5. Although I discovered Momusu & H!P around 2008, 5th gen became my favorite MM gen of all time, so to me, 2002 Momusu was perfect. Plus the Kids arrived around that time too.
