Sexiness isn’t just about hairstyles and miniskirts!
I would estimate that among the girls who want to be popular, a good percentage of them choose to do so by presenting themselves in a sexy way. But when it comes to the ones who do so mostly by wearing miniskirts with slits along with one-piece camisole dresses and such, while they might say “I just wear them because I like this kind of fashion” or “I just think it’s cute,” wouldn’t you agree that the thought running in the back of their minds is that they hope guys would find them sexy?
The only problem is, there can be differences between what girls think of as being sexy and what guys see as being sexy.
In my case for example, when I see a somewhat chubby girl walking down the street and she’s sweating because it’s summer, I immediately feel aroused. When I see how her sweat has made her bra strap partly visible through her blouse, it just makes me go “woah!” Not to mention if some of the meat on her back plops out from over the belt of her skirt…! Another thing that’s nice and indecent is when a girl is wearing white jeans and you can see her panty line, or when a girl has her hair in a ponytail and you can see her ears — isn’t that erotic in a way, too? And when you’re with a girl who’s somewhat plump and she says “it’s embarrassing — turn off the lights,” that just fires me up. I don’t think feelings like that are something girls could understand.
It would be difficult for me to explain why I find things like that sexy, but I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this way about the things I just listed. Feel free to ask your male friends if you don’t believe me. I’m sure many of them will be going, “ah, yeah, I totally get that.“
But rather than settling for the above kind of “casual sexiness,” there are some girls who choose instead to really broadcast their sexy aura. These are the girls who guys will excitedly notice as they think to themselves, “oh, I bet she’d let me do her!” or “she looks like she wants it!” In some of these cases, it’s obviously all in the guy’s head and the girl wasn’t even trying to look sexy in the first place, but the fact remains that that’s what the guys are thinking.
Moreover, although the person herself might not be conscious of it, I do think it’s a fact that girls like that are sending out these “sexy signals,” and there are guys who can read those signals and reap the benefits. Take professional hostess club scouts for example, or even just amateur pick-up artists who know what they’re doing. They can apparently tell just by looking at the girls walking down the street. “She looks easy.” The really capable ones can tell even if the girl isn’t looking particularly “sultry” or anything — they’ll get an “OK” even when approaching plain-looking girls.
According to guys like that, when girls are thinking they want to have a good time, or they’re hoping someone would try to hit on them, it doesn’t matter what clothes they’re wearing, what kind of a hairstyle they have, or how their make-up looks. The guys can tell simply from the way she talks and from the expression on her face. Apparently, it’s almost a given that girls like that will go along with them — there’s just something about the girl that is signaling “OK” before they even ask. Even in cases when the girl herself isn’t thinking that she wants someone to try and pick her up, if they have that opening in their hearts, those guys will be able to see it. Girls like that must be unconsciously broadcasting this invitating aura.
In other words, while all guys enjoy looking at girls who are dressed sexy, that isn’t the only correct answer. Sure: no guy would object to seeing a girl’s thighs or cleavage or whatever. But guys will pick up on sexiness in the strangest of places. The deciding factor isn’t clothes or make-up. Rather, I feel that it’s those “beams” of sexiness you shoot out. And with that being the case, it might be more difficult for girls to be sexy than they want to believe.
Speaking for myself, Taiyou to Ciscomoon’s Kominato Miwa is someone who I’ve recently considered to be a sexy cat. She has a lovely face, big eyes, and she’s the voluptuous type on a whole. Her sexy beam is definitely coming out nicely.
In Kominato’s case, she doesn’t have an air about her like she’s wanting anyone to hit on her, and of course she’s not even thinking anything along those lines either. However, just because she married doesn’t mean she’s completely given up on love — she’s not the type of girl to do away with sexiness as soon as she gets married. She has a different kind of mentality. That’s not to say she’s specifically looking to fall in love again or such — it’s probably just something she tries to be conscious of when she thinks of her position and identity as part of Taiyou to Ciscomoon. But to the people watching, it looks as if her sexy beam is firing at full blast.
Personality-wise, Kominato has always been a bit of a contrarian. The two keywords that best describe her are “minyo” and “mother,” but she absolutely hates it if people think of her as being very stereotypically “Japanese” just because of those two descriptors. It’s sort of like she wants to have her cake and eat it, too. It could be that personality of hers that made Kominato, a mother, also into a sexy cat.
Kominato is always trying to change her circumstances into a different kind of energy. She’s from the head family of a renowned minyo school, yet she wanted to become a popular music singer. She’s a mother, yet she wants to be sexy. She can sing high notes very well, yet she wishes to sing in an almost whisper-like voice. I think some of it has to come from the confidence she first gained by being number one in the field of minyo.
Even since she was very young, Kominato was called the “Lauryn Hill of minyo.” She was apparently a child prodigy — no one was a match for her. But it seems she was also constantly thinking: “I want to express something more than this. I wonder if minyo is really the only thing I can do?” She’d done all she could in one field, so she was looking to challenge something else — perhaps the desire of a person who had already experienced standing at the top. “I want to discover a new part of myself.” She must’ve wanted to prove to herself that there was something more she was capable of doing.

Kominato has been tasked with the challenge of having to temporarily withdraw from Taiyou to Ciscomoon. This was not because it makes for “good TV” to have someone do that — it was because there’s a certain thing that Kominato needs to overcome as an artist. Kominato may have been a genius in the field of minyo, but that is of course something that’s quite different from popular music. For starters, minyo is a kind of music where the singing leads all the other instruments: first there is singing, and the instruments all follow along. It’s the complete opposite with popular music where you have the instrumental first, and then the question becomes: how are you going to put vocals on top of that performance?
It might not be noticeable to the average listener, but when it comes to Kominato with her minyo background, her singing is always in the front. I don’t mean that as in her vocals being louder than the instrumental; I mean it in terms of time. It’s only by something like 0.04 seconds — it’s very minor. But if it was a running contest, what she’d be doing in essence was a false start. She would be disqualified. It might seem harsh, but it’s something that’s necessary also for Kominato’s own sake when considering her future as a pop artist. It’s something she needs to overcome. It’s a problem to the extent that even folks at the record label would be pointing it out.
To tell you the truth, in this day and age when everyone uses computers when recording, it would be simple to fix something like someone singing a bit early. But cheating like that when Kominato genuinely wishes to be a proper pop singer wouldn’t be good for her. I’m sure she herself wouldn’t like that sort of thing either.
It won’t be easy for Kominato to overcome this weakness of hers. In terms of difficulty, I would think it to be as tough as it would be for a left-handed person to change into a right-handed person. Being from a leading minyo family, however, I’m sure there are lots of obstacles that Kominato has already overcome. As a result, she’s gained the confidence, pride, and personality that only a woman who has accomplished something can have.
There’s no doubt in my mind that she’ll be able to do this.
Was Tsunku horny when he wrote this
It’s not beyond the realm of possibility.
Does anyone know when Tsunku wrote this collection of thoughts about women? If it was recently, I wonder if he’d consider an open discussion on some of the ideas he expressed in this essay.
On a related note, Tsunku = chubby chaser. Didn’t know that…
Aside from the afterword, the book was written in late 1999.
I’m ten seconds away from kinkshaming Tsunku
Thanks for adding the video. It was interesting to see her perform something different T&C.
That’s such a cool song!
sorry, tsunku man. call me a cis-scum but NO FAT CHICKS.
