I liked the threads where everyone talked about how Gaki-san seemed like their mother.

The segment on Hello Pro! TIME when they went to Disneyland was really funny, but they never released it on DVD. I don’t know if it was too bothersome to mosaic out all the faces or if it was just because of copyright issues but either way, it’s such a waste.

Probably just because it’s Disney.

I would’ve wanted to see more of 9th gen being the little sisters of the group.

Same here. It would’ve been nice if they’d had more time to be in that position. They forced them higher up the ladder too quickly.

When Takahashi’s graduation was announced, the Niigaki wota were all excitedly waiting for it to happen, going “Gaki-san will finally be the leader!” (nine months, from January to October). But when she finally did become the leader, the time from her inauguration to her graduation (seven months, from October to May) was actually shorter than how long everyone had to wait. It’s a sad, sad story.

They had lost Takahashi, their greatest ace in terms of both ability and popularity. Mitsui was injured and could hardly partake in their activities at all. 9th gen still had much more growing up to do. 10th gen had only just joined the group and were hardly a force to be reckoned with.
When she’d just become the leader, it was basically the threesome of Niigaki-Tanaka-Michishige who could be trusted with keeping the group alive. And at a critical period like that, they went through a crushing failure by releasing a hopeless single by the title of Pyoko Pyoko Ultra.
But gradually, Niigaki along with the 9th and 10th generations, once again created a fun, lively atmosphere in the group. I think that’s a big reason as to why the switch to the Michishige-led lineup was so smooth.

I, too, loved the nursery school-like system that Gaki-san and 9th & 10th gen had going on.

Niigaki: “Ai-chaaan, you have to hear me out! Sato made me play hide and seek with her again all day long…”
Takahashi: “Haha, lolz.“

I’m a 10th gen wota, but having Gaki-san and Aika around is what made that time so fun.

More than Ai-chan, it was Gaki-san who seemed more leader-like. I liked it.

Well, they both had a tough job. Takahashi with three consecutive OG scandals and two foreigners put in the group all of a sudden, and Niigaki with eight elementary and middle school students suddenly joining the group.

When you think about it like that, those two really should be rated a little higher as leaders.

Gaki-san did a good job. Of course the 6th gen being there helped some, too, but conversely Gaki having had been there later made it easier for 6th gen, too.

Niigaki supported Takahashi when she was the leader, and Michishige and Tanaka supported Niigaki when she was the leader. Those bonds they have within the group is their strength. It’s one of the great things about Musume.

There’s no one to support Michishige now though.

You do hear about Fukumura helping out quite a lot.

I wonder if things would’ve been different if Mitsui had stayed.

I liked the way Gaki-san looked after the 9th gen members when they’d just joined.

Niigaki was both a good subleader as well as a good leader — even if she was an airhead.

10th gen who were children, 9th gen who were just slightly more mature… and Gaki-san looking after them like it was a day care, with Reina rounding it off. It was fun.

The best version of Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari was at Gaki-san’s graduation in Budokan.

I would’ve wanted Ai-Gaki to be in the group a bit longer, at least until they could’ve worked with Oda for a little while.

I liked it when Gaki-san used to happily talk about the latest happenings with Kudo or Maa-chan.

Henkka: I’m pretty sure that seven months she had to spend looking after Maa-chan probably took a good couple of years off Gaki-san’s life.
